amrita-nandyAmrita Nandy is a researcher, writer and activist whose work spans issues of gender, rights and culture. Her doctoral work is the subject of her book Motherhood and Choice: Uncommon Mothers, Childfree Women (Zubaan and New Text, 2017). It won her the Fox International Fellowship at Yale University, USA (2013-2014). Amrita’s academic work has been published in national and international books as well as journals such as the Economic and Political Weekly and Women’s Studies International Forum. She has been invited to present her work at UCLA, Yale, and the National University of Singapore, among others. Amrita’s articles appear in a range of dailies and news portals such as The Indian Express and The Wire. Her writing won her the Best Op-Ed Award for Gender Sensitivity from the Laadli National Media and Advertising Awards. Amrita has a PhD from Jawaharlal Nehru University, India, and a master’s degree from the University of Oxford, UK.
