Anirudh Kala is a psychiatrist and lives in Ludhiana. He is the author of an anthology of interconnected stories titled The Unsafe Asylum: Stories of Partition & Madness, published by Speaking Tiger Books in 2018. His novel about a Dalit couple caught in the vortex of terrorism in Punjab is due for publication later in 2020, and a non-fiction book about the concept of addiction as seen through the prism of Punjab is also in the pipeline.
Anirudh was part of a four-member fact-finding mission to Kashmir in September 2019, immediately after the abrogation of Article 370, which authored “Kashmir Civil Disobedience: A Citizens’ Report.” His interests include the mental health of persons with ‘alternate’ sexualities, migrants, and the people of Kashmir.
