Jonathan Gil Harris is Professor of English at Ashoka University, India, where he also served as Founding Dean from 2013 to 2017. He is the author of ten books on Shakespeare, globalization and, most recently, foreign migrants to India. His books include the best-selling The First Firangis: Remarkable Stories of Healers, Heroes, Courtesans, Charlatans, and Other Foreigners Who Became Indian (Aleph Book Company, 2014) and Masala Shakespeare: How A Firangi Writer Became Indian (Aleph Book Company, 2018). He is currently writing a book about Jews and the Silk Route from Persia to China and India.
